Talking Horses: The best bets and latest news
Tuesday’s best bets, by Greg Wood
The day’s only National Hunt meeting at Exeter has survived the recent rain, but it will be tough going at the top of Haldon Hill this afternoon where there are several short-priced favourites to test the punters’ nerves.
Gemini Ahhs (3.30) and Robin Will (4.00) look pretty secure, but Molon Labe (2.30) won with something to spare last time out and even after an 8lb hike in the ratings, he could prove a decent alternative to Umberto D’Olivate.
Conditions will be a little more predictable on the all-weather tracks, and while many Flat yards are gearing up for the return of turf racing, there are still a few decent performers from the winter season around. Goldstorm (3.40) is certainly worth an interest as she goes for her third win in four starts, and might be looking for a four-timer had it not been for an unfortunate run on her penultimate outing, over today’s course and distance in February.
She made up for that with a victory here later in the month which was her best performance to date, and Goldstorm remains lightly-raced for a five-year-old and so with scope to overcome another rise in the weights.
Luv U Whatever (2.20) made a winning debut on Fibresand two runs ago, and ran well enough when favourite at Kempton next time out. Back on this surface, he is a good bet to return to winning form from a 5lb higher mark.
Tipping competition, day two
Sandiuk and Harrytheactor share the lead after picking the first two winners of the wwek, Atlantis Crossing (5-1) and Clear Praise (7-1). Lindsey6677 also had a double, through Atlantis Crossing and Marino Prince (5-2).
Today, we’d like your tips, please, for these races: 4.30 Exeter, 4.40 Wolverhampton, 5.20 Southwell.
This week’s prize is a copy of Timeform’s ‘Horses To Follow’ for the 2013 Flat season. It centres on 50 horses to follow, picked by Timeform’s experts, and includes winner-finding features like Irish horses to follow and ante-post advice. If you don’t win, you can buy a copy here.
As ever, our champion will be the tipster who returns the best profit to notional level stakes of £1 at starting price on our nominated races, of which there will be three each day up until Friday. Non-runners count as losers. If you have not already joined in this week, you can do so today, but you will start on -3.
In the event of a tie at the end of the week, the winner will be the tipster who, from among those tied on the highest score, posted their tips earliest on the final day.

Good luck!
